Senior Research Associate, Immunohistochemistry (Translational Science Group)

Job Description:  The Jounce Translational Science Platform is key to our understanding of tumor immunobiology and is instrumental in our approach to identifying and prioritizing targets and developing biomarker strategies to enable us to select the right patients for our cancer immunotherapeutics.  We are seeking an experienced researcher to contribute to the development of novel cancer immunotherapeutics, from target discovery through early clinical stage.  The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing immunohistochemistry analyses of mouse and human tumor samples. As part of a multi-disciplinary team, S/he will be expected to proactively interact with project teams in the company and external collaborators to create experimental plans, as well as prepare, report and present results.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Performing immunohistochemistry procedures including: tissue dissection, routine histology, immunohistochemistry (IHC), in-situ hybridization (ISH) and image capture of fresh, frozen and paraffin-embedded tissues and cell lines
  • Building immunophenotyping capabilities for Translational Sciences team
  • Developing histochemical assays using various modalities including engineered antibodies, antibody mimetics and nucleic acids
  • Performing microscopy image analysis and processing
  • Identifying, develop and optimize new methods to generate reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner
  • Performing detailed organization of experimental data, analyzed data for entry, and sample management

Minimum requirements:

  • S. or M.S. degree in molecular biology, clinical pathology or related fields and at least 5 years of professional experience with HT (ASCP) certification
  • Expertise in image analysis and processing is essential, including use of Definiens Tissue Studio and Tissue Phenomenics
  • Expertise in standard histological techniques and routine IHC is required
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing on cell- and tissue-based assays including histology, in situ hybridization, immunohistochemistry, and fluorescence applications including validation of reagents
  • Experience in utilization of automated systems (autostainers, slide scanning equipment and image analysis software) required
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are required
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) are expected
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and on multiple projects
  • Data analytics skills, such as the use of Spotfire and GraphPad Prism
